9 stages across Victoria
The roads
Nine stages through the Victorian High Country, from fast valley roads to tight mountain climbs with views across the Alps. The stages made famous by Targa High Country are some of the best-scoring roads in the country - and they are all there waiting year-round.
The event
Targa High Country runs each year through the mountains northeast of Melbourne, taking in the Mansfield and Jamieson areas. The event is one of Australia's most popular tarmac rallies, drawing competitors from across the country to test production cars on roads that combine tight technical sections with high-speed alpine sweepers.
9 stages

SS 1 - Jamieson
92 km7.8The longest stage in the Victorian Alpine collection. 48 kilometres along the Eildon-Jamieson Road, skirting Lake Eildon National Park through relentless corners with a fast middle section.

SS 2 - Mount Buller Climb
16 km7.6The most famous hill climb in Victorian motorsport. 16 kilometres from the Mirimbah gate to the village, gaining nearly 1,000 metres through forest, exposed alpine terrain and the tight final hairpins.

SS 3 - Merrijig Road
22 km6.8The valley road between Mansfield and the Mount Buller turnoff. Flowing paddock-country driving with the Alps as backdrop and the Delatite River appearing and disappearing alongside.

SS 4 - Bonnie Doon
31 km6.8Lake Eildon's back road. A faster stage through mixed farmland and state forest with the lake appearing on both sides as the road crosses the Howqua Hills.

SS 5 - Eildon to Marysville
50 km7.6The connector between the lake country and the forest country. A varied 50-kilometre stage from the western shores of Eildon through the Yea River valley and the Black Range into rebuilt Marysville.

SS 6 - Tolmie
27 km7.6A pastoral High Country stage to a tiny settlement on the road to the King Valley. Rolling country, mostly empty, with the Alps visible to the east throughout.

SS 7 - Whitfield
7 km5.8A short King Valley stage dropping from the elevated position of Whitfield into the valley through linked sweepers with good surface and long sightlines.

SS 8 - King Valley
7 km4.9The valley floor stage of the Victoria Alpine collection. Long straights connected by sweeping open bends through cleared agricultural land with the Warby Ranges visible to the west.

SS 9 - Devils River
10 km6.1The wildest stage in the Victoria Alpine collection. 10 kilometres from Merrijig into the Devils River valley where the road narrows, the river appears and disappears, and the stage ends at a dead end.
