The road

A short King Valley stage that links the township of Whitfield to the main valley road below. The 7-kilometre route drops from Whitfield's elevated position into the valley through a series of linked sweepers with good surface and long sightlines - a fast stage that rewards early commitment on the corners. The King Valley was settled by Italian immigrant tobacco farmers in the 1950s and the wineries and restaurants that followed them have made it one of Victoria's best food valleys. The transition from the hilltop town to the valley floor gives good views across the vineyards on the descent.
