The roads

Seven stages through the vineyards and gorges of the Adelaide Hills. The stages made famous by Targa Adelaide combine narrow stone-walled roads with open ridge-top sweepers, all within an hour of the city and some of the most scenically varied driving in South Australia.

The event

The Shannons Adelaide Rally is run by Adelaide Rally Pty Ltd, independently of Targa Australia - it is the world's largest tarmac rally by entry count, regularly drawing 400+ competitors. All stages are within an hour of the Adelaide CBD, which makes it one of the most spectator-friendly events in the country. The roads through the Hills wine regions punch well above their modest distances for sheer driving satisfaction.
