Circuit venue
Used as a stage in the Trofeo and Tasmania programs. The only sealed circuit on the route - the rest of the program is closed public roads.
The roads
A new 3-day tarmac rally debuting in 2026 - the entry-point format inside Targa Tasmania. 24 stages, 200+ km of closed-road competition across the opening three days, ceremonial finish in Launceston.
The event
Targa Trofeo debuts in 2026 as an event within an event - it runs during the first three days of Targa Tasmania (18-20 November) and finishes ceremonially in Launceston. Designed to make tarmac rallying more accessible, it carries the same regulations and competition structure as Targa Tasmania but with its own trophies, number plates, branding and a dedicated Targa Tour. It replaces the former Rookie Rallye and is the natural entry point for first-time competitors, returning crews, or anyone wanting a shorter and more affordable rally experience. Entry fees are significantly reduced, with Early Bird pricing available until 30 June. Crews are also entered into a draw for free entry into the 2027 Targa Tasmania.

The SidelingA 14-kilometre run along the Tasman Highway across the Sideling Range between Scottsdale and Lilydale. The first of the northeast stages, with good sightlines and a steady climb from 221 m to 621 m.

Year-round driving guide
Every Targa stage is a public road, open to recreational drivers year-round outside the event window. No permits, no closures - just the same roads at your own pace.
The technical signature stage. Carried over from the main Targa Tasmania program. The hairpin complex above the dam is where times are made or lost.
Sports car or motorcycle. The hairpins reward precision.
The fastest stage in the Tasmania catalogue. Open ridgeline running with Tamar Valley views - the standout stage of the northeast.
Any car, ideal for sports cars and motorcycles.
The east coast star. The tree-fern gully on the approach is unlike anything else on the circuit.
Any car, but sports cars and motorcycles reward the most here.
History
Targa Trofeo is the third entry-format the Tasmanian event has carried in three decades. The original Targa Tour ran alongside the competition for non-competitive entrants. The Rookie Rallye, a shorter format aimed at first-time crews, ran in the editions before Trofeo's 2026 debut. Trofeo replaces it and broadens the entry-point: it carries the same regulations and stage selection as Targa Tasmania, but compresses the experience into the opening three days with its own trophies, plates and branding. The Trofeo Tour runs alongside the competition for crews who want closed-road driving without timing pressure.
